Top 5 Double Strollers 2010 - The Best Sellers

For those parents who have two small children, the top 5 double strollers list might not just be considered a good starting resource list, but any one of them might even be considered a "lifesaver" that adds some much needed convenience to parents lives.

For the year of 2010, here are the hottest selling double strollers that also have at least above average consumer reviews:

1. Baby Jogger City Mini Double - This stroller comes from a name that is consistent with amazing quality and a sort of "intuitiveness" into what parents really need. Not only is it quite comfortable for little ones, but it is rather light as well (especially for a double stroller). It is a side-by-side model, so two little ones can benefit from the view. Retail price for this stroller is around $400, and it may be possible to purchase it online for less although it is best if a shopper plans to pay the list price.

2. Jeep Wrangler Twin Double - This stroller lies in a lower price range than the City Mini, and is a good choice for parents who live in an area where the temperatures change a good deal with the seasons. It features a roll down attachment on the seat that can be used to block the wind in colder climates, and when rolled up it functions as a pillow for little ones. This stroller is also a side-by-side model. Retail price for the Jeep Wrangler Twin is around $140-$160 depending on the exact model chosen, and most definitely can be found for a discount price online.

3. Graco Quattro Tour Duo - This model of stroller is a tandem (one child in front of the other), and is known for its excellent suspension for a smooth ride, as well easy fold-up and ability to maneuver well. Retail price for the Quattro Tour Duo is around $250, but I have recently found them to be priced as low as around $217 from specific online merchants.

4. Kolcraft Contours Options Double - This stroller is rather amazing in terms of its seat maneuverability - children can even sit facing each other while riding! Basically it is a tandem stroller (one child in front, the other in back) but with the handy seat changing (and removing) features, this could just be one of the most convenient strollers ever, depending on parents' needs. Retail price for this stroller is around $250 - $270 (depending on the version chosen), and can be found for a nice discount online.

5. Peg Perego Aria Double - The highlight of this stroller is the fact that it is especially made for two children of different ages. It is a side-by-side stroller, one of the seats able to accommodate a Peg Perego car seat, the other for a larger size youngster. Peg Perego strollers and seats are widely known for their amazing quality and safety features, and this stroller appears to be no exception to this. Retail price for the Peg Perego Aria Double is around $360, but can most definitely be found at a price much lower than that from some online resources.

For anyone who is shopping for a great "duo" stroller for 2010 (and beyond), the list of the top 5 double strollers for 2010 is at least a great place to start.

What Are The Best Baby Strollers?

Choosing the right stroller for your baby is like choosing a bottle of wine. The best one is the one that is suited to your taste. Babies sleep for most part of the day and it is important to choose the best and safest stroller for your baby. When choosing baby strollers, it is important to consider some factors first before buying. The needs of the mother and the baby must also be taken into consideration.

The primary factor to note when buying baby strollers is safety. That is usually the first thing that comes into play. Are there safety features on the stroller? Most of the manufacturers make sure that the products they have are safe for babies. They ensure that the requirements of the parents are met. Make sure that the stroller is stable and it has the ability to bear with bumps.

If your child is still in diapers, then you might want to consider a stroller that has a diaper bag or a cargo net especially if you will be out for a number of hours. It is ideal to have a stroller with a five-point harness.

The type of wheels that comes with a baby stroller is also important. There are parents who check the wheels and base it on the type of wheels when making a purchase. There are strollers that are best for parents who go for a jog. There are also strollers that can easily maneuver on corners. These are useful in crowded areas like malls. The handles must also be checked. Adjustable handles are recommended so that they can be easily moved.

The budget also comes into play when considering the kind of stroller to buy. Some parents are in a budget but not to worry, there are still quality strollers that can be bought at an affordable price.

There are other features in a stroller depending on what you want. Parents who often have drinks on hand would want holders on the stroller. If a parent likes to listen to music, there are strollers that are equipped with mp3 connectors and speakers.

There are parents who prefer to have a lightweight stroller especially if they often go to places where there are plenty of people around. A lightweight stroller can be easy to maneuver through the crowd. Make sure also that the stroller can fit at the back of car.

Baby Strollers - Baby's First Mode of Transit

Baby's First Vehicle
There is nothing like a baby stroller for convenience. They are compact in size, light-weight and made of sturdy materials to protect baby. Baby strollers are available in various styles and colors to suit most preferences. Many are so lightweight that they simply fold away when not in use. This is a great feature in crowded shopping malls or in buildings with escalators or elevator access. Baby will love being mobile in a comfortable stroller. There are strollers for the lucky parents of multiples, twins and triplets and baby's sibling nearest in age.

You have Come A Long Way - Baby Strollers
Gone are the heavy, chrome baby strollers of the early 1930's and '40's. Baby's new mode of transit is streamlined for Mom and Dads convenience and baby's too. The first strollers were not exactly convenient. Most took up a lot of room and had only minimal ability to fold away. Someone had Mom and Dad in mind when the first generation of totally mobile strollers made the scene in the late 1970's. These strollers grew lighter and lighter in weight while each new generation of babies enjoyed their ride.

This Is The Way To Travel
The latest generation of baby strollers feature things like a sunshade for bright sunlit days and insect screens to protect the precious cargo from those nasty flying creatures during their daytime or late afternoon stroller trips. There are several models that even have a compartment at the back of the handle for Moms shopping stuff. What could be handier?

Check Before You Buy
One important feature to check before purchasing a baby stroller is compatibility with baby's weight. Too lightweight and baby's safety from tip overs may be compromised. This is especially true of older babies and toddlers who prefer the stroller to trying to navigate a shopping mall. Make certain stroller wheels are strong enough to hold baby's weight adequately and that the seat is adjustable for baby's future growth. The stroller should have a strong seat belt as well to hold a squirming toddler in place and to avoid frontal tipping.

What is So Special About the Maclaren Car Seat Strollers?

Maclaren is a UK based company known for its baby travel products-one of which is the Maclaren car seat stroller. But what's so special about this stroller? It doesn't look like much, but maybe it's worth more than it seems?

The Maclaren car seat stroller really doesn't look like much. It's black with eight wheels (four pairs side-by-side), and it doesn't have a seat of its own. It has an extremely roomy basket made with a light, translucent fabric in which to store all of your little one's things. However, because it is this type of stroller, it has two parallel bars for your baby's car seat to go on top of the basket.

It does save quite a bit of space, since all it's just a frame with a basket without the baby seat attached. It might be a bit of a pain getting the car seat in and out of the car every time you need to take baby out. It can't be said it's exactly a time-saver or anything. Pretty much, instead of unbuckling the baby and placing him or her in the stroller, you just unbuckle the whole car seat instead. On the flip side, it isn't wasting any time either. It also helps when your baby is sleeping, rather than remove him from his seat which will cause him to wake up, you can simply take the whole seat out of the car.

According to reviews, the main complaint about the Maclaren stroller is that there isn't a cup holder. It has also been said that the handles might be a bit tall for smaller parents, and they are regrettably not adjustable. Other complaints had to do with the baby being lower to the ground than a parent might like, the basket isn't accessible from the back of the stroller, and the basket, albeit being a good size, does fill up fast.

On the other hand, it has also been said that the basket is a good size (It depends on the parent. If you have more than one child, it may fill up faster.), it's extremely easy to steer, and is compatible with many car seats (even a few not on the list). The Maclaren is also extremely compact when folded up, saving more space than your everyday stroller.

Shopping For Umbrella Strollers For Special Needs Kids

Umbrella strollers for special needs kids can be most useful when its time to venture out with your special needs child. The right stroller can make it easier to enjoy a day at the park, beach, jogging trail or around town.

When shopping for a stroller for your child, it's important to do some preliminary research and also to evaluate the exact needs of the child.

Height/Weight

One of the first things you should do when you have committed to the idea of buying a stroller is to make sure that you know the child's height and weight. Umbrella strollers for special needs kids are made to accommodate different height and weight requirements so it's very important to check for each stroller's capacity. This information should be easily found-just check the product review, look for the height and weight on the product's box or ask a salesperson.

Destination/Purpose

Knowing where you'll be taking your stroller and what you'll be doing with it is another essential part of the shopping checklist. In order to make sure that the stroller you choose to purchase is right for you and your child-consideration must be given to where you'll be going and what you'll be doing. By planning for the types of environment and activities that you'll be involved in; you can take advantage of some special features found in some strollers.

Example: If you're planning take your kid on a nice run down a nature trail-you should look for a stroller that was made specifically for running and is equipped with larger wheels which can handle rough terrain.

On the flip side of the coin, if you're going to be taking your kid along for a nice stroll around town to run errands and see the sights; you should look for a compact, light weight stroller. A small lightweight stroller can has several advantages over other lager models when maneuvering around buses, subway cars, ferries and stores. Graco Baby Brand Strollers Are the Way to Go

Any person who has ever been out shopping for baby shower gifts or baby travel accessories will have discovered that there are a multitude of products on the market that carry the Graco Baby brand name. Graco Inc. has a long history in the baby product market and they have developed a very good reputation for making products that are not only of high quality, but also affordable.

The Graco line of baby car seats, as well as the Graco strollers, are probably the best known and most popular of all their products. Because safety is of such great concern when it comes to anything related to babies, and especially when it comes to car seats and baby strollers, it is comforting for parents to know that Graco products are highly rated, with regard to safety standards and overall quality and durability.

There is a great selection of Graco baby vehicle seat models that a new parent can select from. Some models are very lightweight and easy to move from one vehicle to another and are great for use with toddlers. These can often even be used later as a booster seat when the toddler has outgrown the baby seat, yet isn't big enough to ride without some type of car seat.

There are also several baby car seat models made by Graco that are designed especially for newborns and infants. They provide the maximum amount of support and comfort to the baby while also offering all the safety and security for the child that a parent could ever hope for. Some models have adjustments that allow the car seat to be used as the child grows into the toddler stage. Of course, the more adjustable and adaptable the model is the more you can expect to pay for it.

While some people think that they might as well buy a baby car seat that can be used from the time a child is newborn all the way though the toddler stage and even beyond, for many new parents the cost is just prohibitive to do that. Fortunately, Graco provides lots of options to parents so that they can find just the right thing that fits into their budget.

Sometimes, it just makes sense to purchase the lower priced item even when you know in six months to a year you will have to buy something else to accommodate the child as they continue to grow. While this often is the least expensive approach, sometimes it is the only way to fit the necessary baby travel gear into the budget at that stage. With all of the models of Graco strollers, baby car seats, and other baby products, the parents always have a choice no matter what stage of development their child is in and what type of baby travel accessories they need at the time.

One very popular Graco baby product is the Graco Duo Glider baby stroller. It is able to handle either twins, or a newborn and a sibling who is still in diapers.

This Graco stroller has a large storage bin for carrying the necessities that are needed, and it has a tray for each seat as well as cup holder. In addition, the rear seat is slightly higher, giving the child in the back a view of where the family is headed.

Strollers - Which Kind is Best?

There are so many different types of strollers out there it is hard to know what kind is right. Do you get something lightweight or heavier, an umbrella stroller or a jogging stroller? Well, here is a basic list of the different types of baby strollers.

Umbrella Stroller

An umbrella stroller has curved double handles and they fold up easily and compactly, like an umbrella; hence the name. These are the smallest and lightest baby strollers available. They can have a cloth or vinyl seat on a basic frame with swivel wheels. Some offer features such as a canopy and a storage basket. This is a great stroller for short trips where you don't need to bring a lot of stuff with you. But beware; they are not as sturdy as other strollers and don't offer the same safety features. They are also not meant for children less than 6 months or children unable to sit unassisted in an upright position.

Lightweight Strollers

Lightweight strollers are mid-sized strollers that can be very basic or come with many features. There is an abundant selection of lightweight strollers, so make sure you know what your needs are before you begin to shop around.

Lightweight strollers are meant for basic baby transportation like shopping, walking on paved sidewalks, etc. They are not meant for all terrain, running, or jogging. These strollers are more comfortable and practical than umbrella strollers and there is a huge selection of models and styles. There are lots of them that come with many different practical features such as a canopy, cup holders and extra storage space. Many of them may work with an infant car seat, meaning you can put the car seat in the stroller and they have good durability.

Travel System Stroller

Stroller travel systems are the ultimate in convenience for a parent with a newborn because they include the car seat, stroller, and a car seat base. They are the combination of a good-sized stroller, with an infant carrier that buckles in and out. If you are planning on only buying one stroller, this would be great because they work from birth to toddlerhood. They also have many features available like a cup holder and extra storage space. However, be aware that the weight is considered too heavy by some and the lower quality of some of these may lead you to buy something else after your baby has outgrown their infant car seat. They are also not suitable for rough terrain, running, or jogging.

Jogging and All-Terrain Strollers

These strollers are heavy duty strollers that can come with many features. More and more parents are using jogging strollers to get out of the house and exercise. A true jogging stroller is meant for serious running and has 3 large inflatable tires, with a fixed front tire. Jogging strollers are built for speed, not handling. Trying to use them for other activities such as shopping may lead to frustration and disappointment.

All-Terrain Strollers

Which are also called sport strollers or sport utility strollers, are great for walking on or off paved roads. They are very durable and can handle most terrains. They also can fit through most doorways and are pretty easy to use. They can be difficult to turn if the front wheel doesn't swivel, so you may want one with a front wheel that has the ability to turn.

Double Strollers

These strollers are great for multiple kids. Depending on the type of double stroller you get, some can accommodate an infant car seat. They can have many features and the high quality ones are pretty easy to maneuver. On the other hand, they are quite bulky and harder to carry around.

You just need to decide what you will be using the stroller for most and what features you would like. I would make a list of the most important things that you want in a stroller and go from there. You also have to realize that you might not be able to get a stroller with all the features that you want, so decide what is most important to you and your family.

Combi Double Strollers - Advantages and Disadvantages of This Type of Double Stroller

First introduced in 1997, Combi strollers have quickly become a mainstay in homes with small children the world over. One branch of their successful product line are double strollers for families with twins or more than one small child.

Ask any parent with more than one small child and they will give you a short list of features that are must-haves for a double stroller. One of those features is that the stroller be easily folded to get into the family vehicle. Combi double strollers boast a patented 3-Second Fold design that when compacted actually stands on its own.

Have an infant and a toddler? No problem for the Combi double strollers as they are designed to hold infant car seats and some models, such as the Twin Sport, even have an extendable canopy and infant safety boot to make certain infants are secure and protected. View-through canopy windows also make it easy for parents to peek in on their little ones without disturbing them or putting them in direct sunlight like other models that require the canopy be pulled back in order to view the child.

Wondering what the disadvantages of Combi double strollers may be? Some customers have reported that the storage baskets below the stroller seats are very compact and therefore don't hold much cargo. This can be a problem for a busy parent trying to do the family shopping without having to haul a second cart along. Other than the inconvenience of small storage capacity, Combi double strollers seem to get rave reviews from most parents.

The Baby Bunch: Tandem Vs Side-By-Side Lightweight Double Strollers

Choosing a stroller is a hard decision for parents, especially when you need to take care of two young ones, even twins, at the same time. If you are taking care of two small children, lightweight double strollers are a godsend. You can take the kids out at the same time or even use one seat as an extra place for clothes, diapers or baby bottles. They also tend to be heavier and sturdier than single strollers so you worry less about tipping when you happen to need a place to hang your handbag.

What Kind of Lightweight Double Stroller Do You Need?

There are a lot of considerations to make when choosing a lightweight double stroller, the first of which is the children's age. A double stroller for infant and toddler is different from double strollers for twins.

Even though their ages are close, infants that are only a few months old need good back support and can only lie down. If you have one child under 6 months and another way over, you need a stroller for infant and toddler that either:

has a hammock in the front for the older child and a seat in the rear large enough to hold an infant car seat or a baby basket
have two fully reclining hammocks that can support babies lying in a supine position and are able to seat older babies (still useful months after, when both children are old enough to sit up)

These strollers are usually tandem strollers, or strollers that have one seat in front of the other. Another kind of double stroller is the side-by-side stroller. If you have children over 6 months, side-by-side strollers for twins with reclining hammocks can offer both children room to move and the proper support.

Tandem vs. Side-By-Side Lightweight Double Strollers

Tandem strollers and side-by-side strollers both have their own charm, but both also have their disadvantages.

Tandem Stroller Pros:

Flexibility. You can seat children of different ages.
Reclines fully. You can put a bassinet or baby car seat in the back or simply lie the newborn down in the stroller.
More compact. Compared to side-by-side strollers for twins, tandem strollers can be folded into a more compact size.
Narrow. A tandem stroller for infant and toddler can fit through narrow sidewalks, doorways and aisles better than a side-by-side stroller.

Tandem Stroller Con:

Fighting. Both children might prefer sitting either at the front or the back; and object to the seating arrangements. The one in the back might even fancy kicking the one in front.

Side-by-Side Stroller Pros:

Sporty. Some parents take their kids out on a jog in side-by-side double strollers for twins.
Interaction. As they are seated together, the children can see the same things at the same time and interact with each other better.
Easy Steering. If the children are approximately the same weight, this kind of lightweight double stroller can manage curbs better.

Side-by-Side Stroller Con:

Wideness. Hard or even impossible to get through narrow doorways or aisles and hazardous over narrow sidewalks.

These are very general pros and cons though, and if you look at some models, you might find some lightweight double strollers that can answer all your needs. The most important considerations are safety and comfort, theirs and yours.

Double Strollers - What Do You Really Need?

Is number two in the child or the way you expect twins? So we definitely need a double stroller. Before you begin your search among the countless models that are available, you must determine what their needs stroller for your style of life in particular . For example, it makes sense to buy the stroller yourself to your best friend raves about if you are an avid runner and his favorite pastime is shopping. To help closepossibilities, answer the following eight questions.

1. What activities are needed for a double stroller?

Making the most of shopping malls? We like to run or take long walks around the neighborhood in all weather? Are you a frequent traveler? The activities most often decides what kind of double stroller you should choose either a regular stroller double center, light weight (eg umbrella)double stroller, double stroller or a double stroller for all terrain.

2. That seat design that best suits your needs?

Double strollers are available in two seating designs: tandem (one seat in front of the other) or side to side. Both models have their advantages and disadvantages, so it's important for you to think carefully about what your lifestyle will be like with twins or two childrendifferent ages (although this is not easy to do before actually living through it!).

3. What are the ages and temperaments of your children?

Your stroller needs will be slightly different if you're the parents of twins than if you have a baby and an older child. Some double strollers are true twin strollers, meaning they have features that are meant to accommodate two children of the same age, such as the ability to clip in two infant car seats. There are also double strollers that are designed so that a toddler can sit in the front seat where he can have a better view and more legroom while baby brother or sister sleeps comfortably in the fully reclining rear seat.

Many parents find that side-by-side double strollers help keep the peace between children because they prevent arguments about who gets to sit in the front seat. On the other hand, being side-by-side can also create other problems with the two children sitting in such close proximity.

4. How often are you going to use the double stroller?

If you're only planning on using a stroller for quick errands to the mall a couple times a week, you don't need to purchase a heavy-duty, high-end double stroller with all the bells and whistles. However, if you like going for walks or runs on a daily basis, or if you go out with your children often and for long periods of time, you should consider getting something that is comfortable and durable, since double strollers take twice the abuse of single strollers.

5. Who will be using the stroller?

Keep in mind the height and stride of the person or persons who will be using the double stroller the most, as well as their physical strength. It's no fun pushing a stroller with a handle that is too low or too high for comfort and neither is folding and picking up one that is cumbersome. It's true that double strollers are heavier and bulkier than single strollers due to their very nature, but there are models on the market that are easier to handle than others.

6. What features are you looking for?

Do you want a simple, no frills double stroller, or something with lots of comfort, durability and storage space? This brings us back to the types of activities you do most often. It's very disappointing to purchase a stroller and then realize that its features don't meet your needs as well as they could have.

7. How much space do you have for transporting and storing it?

With a few exceptions, double strollers take up a lot of room. The size of your vehicle may be a big deciding factor when choosing a double model. Make sure it fits! Also, take into account where you will store the stroller at home.

8. What can you afford?

This is probably the most important question of all. Think carefully of your present and future stroller needs with your two children. What is the minimum you are willing to live with? Can you afford to pay for a higher quality double stroller that will make your life easier in the long run, or are you willing to take your chances with a budget stroller that may break down before you're done using it? For twins, a double universal car seat carrier (stroller frame) is an inexpensive alternative to buying an actual stroller during the infant stage if you're yet not sure what you'll need later on.

Once you've determined what you really need, then you can begin researching the various brands and models that are on the market. You will be able to quickly eliminate strollers that don't fit your criteria, making the whole process a lot easier and less time-consuming.

A car has two seats in tandem are aligned. - One in front and one in the back are the strollers double strollers where the seats are next to each other. So how do you make your decision?

There are pros and cons of each. Let's start by looking at the tandem> Stroller. With a tandem, it is easy to keep an eye on their children, as they have their own private space for themselves. The seats are aligned so that it is also easy to push the stroller around in public spaces. It will not be accidentally bumping because people are so wide.

The disadvantage is that the tandem stroller are heavier, so if you're on the road, you'll be more tired with this stroller - and mothers need all the energy that can keep up!Tandem Strollers can be unwieldy, especially when the child is heavier than the front seat. The child sat on the back can also corrupt other with kicks and probing. The disadvantage is that it requires a final bit more effort for their children in and out.

Now we will see in the double stroller. A double is very easy to use because the seats are next to each other. Children can go out alone, withoutassistance. The double stroller is generally lighter, so it will be much easier to push around the tandem stroller. There are also models for this stroller for moms who want to exercise but can not leave their children alone.

Let cons of this type of car. You must remember that when the seats are right next to them, have a wider design so it can be quite difficult to move in acrowded public space. Some models are too large to pass through the gates of normal size. Finally, these strollers do not fold as small as the tandem stroller, so if you do not have much space, can be a problem.

What kind of car you eventually go with will depend on your preferences. Double and Tandem have their pros and cons so it is necessary to compare carefully in order to make an informed decision. Part of their choice based on price andyou can get one or the other depending on how expensive a guy who is.

Strollers are a great investment and should last several years. Be sure to read the comments and see the different characteristics of each stroller before you buy. Everything from the small storage space, ease of use and recliner to make a difference in the carriage that was just bought.
